Exquisite debut album from Rephlex's most discussed artist of the last few years. To date Dave Monolith has only dropped one 12" on us, 2009s hugely impressive 'Volume 1' which found fans across the board from Berlin's T++ to Manchester's Rob Hall. He's evidently got some support from the Rephlex faithful, too, racking up the most sales of any artist on the roster over at their exclusive online store. The label cites his notable influences as Aphex Twin, Aleksi Perala, Bruce Haack, David Vorhaus, Delia Derbyshire, Dopplereffekt, Drexciya, Enya, Jean Michel Jarre, Luke Vibert and The Other People Place, among others, and that's all easy to hear, but essentially Monolith's music should simply be strongly recommended to anyone with a love of advanced, exploratory Braindance with sincere soul. It's been said before, but bears repeating here, in lieu of any new Aphex material, this is the best you'll get.
