tycho - Dive
Tycho is the moniker of graphic designer Scott Hansen, and his sound harks back to the glory days of electronic music. While many have compared him to Boards of Canada, 'Dive' sees him adding even more texture and live instrumentation to his tracks. In many ways the record bears more in common with Helios with carefully constructed compositions and subtle, ticking guitar lines. Hansen seems most at home though when he drives the tempo up a little however, moving what is mostly seen as an 'ambient' sound into something more pumping. Fragments of techno and even jungle appear as Hansen sheds any comparisons to the past and opts for something very unique indeed.
