Torche live the dream - this is Black Sabbath worship through and through. Far from wanting to jump on the Earth/Sunn o))) bandwagon too, instead of concentrating on the droning experimental side of things they instead create big booming rock songs occasionally bordering on pop with hummable riffs and memorable hooks. I guess there's a need for this right now, as metal seeps even further into the mainstream with young bands crossing it with everything (even trance) and diluting the whole sound we fell in love with, bands like Torche who seem to 'keep it real' for want of a better phrase are a breath of fresh air. Of course when I found out that Torche was related to the now defunct Floor (who released some damn good stuff back in the day) it only confirmed my suspicions that these were musicians who were very aware of what they were doing. Who knows they might not even be stoners after all... rockin'
