Ohm Resistance bring something foul and fiercely dark to the table of modern Drum & Bass with the debut album from London's Imaginary Forces, aka Anthoney Hart. Equally influenced by the twin prongs of Metalheadz and Sunn 0))), 'Filth Columnist' combines viscous, blackened guitar strikes with hardstep spurts, gravelly hiphop and a glutton's serving of noise punishment, making for a sound somewhere between Venetian Snares and Scorn. His ugly sound is best heard on 'Filaments On The Face', featuring a controlled display of surging doom guitars and industrial-strength percussion, the tormented rattle of 'Unique Cyphers Of Violence And Desire' or 'Ennepers Surface' which features the Vengeance Tenfold-alike lyrical pessimism of Closed Circuits. Darkside dwellers really need to cop this.
