Boston-dwelling alternative rockers Black Helicopter return to Ecstatic Peace! for their third album, unleashing fourteen generous helpings of post-grunge styled elemental riffing dotted with occasional conceptual songs about the plight of Soviet solidiers during the invasion of Prussia (this record has two of these, which is almost certainly two more than any other album you'll buy this week). One of the standout cuts, 'Golden Days', comes off like Pavement sans the sense of humour - the chorus could easily have been thieved from Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain (er, 'Gold Soundz' perhaps?), but Black Helicopter do it with sufficient panache to have you cheering them on.
