Freshly signed to Ipecac, Unsane have nonetheless enjoyed a rich history prior to joining the label, having launched themselves from the same scene as the likes of Helmet, Pussy Galore and Cop Shoot Cop. The only remaining member from those days is guitarist and vocalist, Chris Spencer who is joined on this album by bassist Dave Curran and ex-Foetus and Swans member, Vincent Signorelli. At the turn of the century, Unsane went on hiatus with the band members immersing themselves in various other projects. By 2003 the band were back in action, releasing a greatest hits package and a new album for Relapse. New album, Visqueen sees the band’s ferocity and astonishing metallic power in full bloom, complete with their trademark horror show artwork – check the cadaver on the cover. Gross.
