dimlite - Prismic Tops
Dimlite brings his talents to Stones Throw's soulful sister label with a bold show of future funk configurations. His releases for for Sonar Kollektif, All City and the Beat Dimensions series, not to mention remixes for Flying Lotus and work with Prefuse 73, have pushed him to the front of the ever morphing electronic soul sphere. With a jazzhead's appreciation of rhythm and meter he constructs complex compositions prone to folding time signatures at will and use the full capability of his programming skills to do twist out fantastical forms. There's few around, aside from maybe the aforementioned Prefuse and Fly Lo, who can coherently create this level of artifice and 'Prismic Tops' just makes this point even clearer.
