Surreal soundtrack/library LP-mimicking fragments from Ghost Box artists The Advisory Board, whose music revisits the same sorts of hallucinogenic public information broadcasts and educational films that inspired Boards Of Canada's Music Has The Right To Children or more recent works like Harmonic 33's Music For Film, Television and Radio. The audio flits at one minute between fragments of spoken recordings interwoven with authentically vintage synthesizer sound designs, then the next leaps into manipulated field recordings, concrète collages and tuneful mellotron musings. The Advisory Circle brilliantly tap into the idea that nostalgia isn't really about reviewing the past for what it actually was, but rather as what we've since re-imagined it to have been: listening to a real library records after sitting through this would surely seem like a strangely drab experience, such is the beguiling magic-realist power Other Channels holds over you. Highly recommended.
