roedelius - Wenn der Südwind Weht
Roedelius' solo album 'Wenn Der Südwind Weht' originally appeared around the same time as Cluster's swansong 'Curiosum' is 1981. Unlike that purposefully stripped final LP, this album is positively enthralled with the evocative soundscaping possibilities of the synthesizer, crafting ten tracks of lushly romantic lovesongs to the German countryside and probably skywards to the cosmos. The gently rolling vistas of the title track introduce us to the album's synthetic utopia, gliding over lush green pastures and sparkling rivers, before exploring a reedy eastern tone on 'Mein Freund Farouk', and alien tribal communications with the bobbling rhythms of 'Mutee'. Meanwhile, the exquisite 1 minute composition 'Goldregen' is sure to melt the minds of any BoC or Ghost Box fans and the masterful drama of 'Saumpfad' is a prime example of Roedelius' Kosmiche vision, up there with the best of Klaus Schulze or Vangelis.
