warpaint - Exquisite Corpse
Exquisite Corpse is the acclaimed debut by LA's Warpaint, produced by Red Hot Chili Peppers Guitarist John Frusciante. The overall tone is one of dreamlike, brooding echo and a very modern kind of psychedelia that avoids the old '70s archetypes in favour of more chiming, shimmering guitars, perhaps in part informed by Mazzy Star's melancholic make-up and the by-now almost regulation supply of 4AD influences and revised '80s indie sounds. Another fine addition to Manimal's roster, and further proof from the label that LA's music scene is in rude health.
