post industrial boys - Post Industrial Trauma
This is Gogi Dzozuashvili’s second release on Thomas Brinkmann’s Max.Ernst imprint, and this time round he’s joined by a host of guest vocalists. The album is a marriage of minimal electronics with a sort of noir-ish pop that sits surprisingly well within the taut digital framework of the production. There’s a consistently easy listening, loungey quality to the songwriting here, which fits perfectly with the breathy nonchalance all the guest singers seem to bring to the songs. The music doesn’t necessarily fit into any single electronica template, ranging from the minimal click shuffle of ‘In Slow Motion’ to the summery string-led pop of ‘Stay Mute’. Gogi only falls foul on a spectacularly ill-judged cover of ‘Take A Walk On The Wild Side’, and you can forgive him that misdemeanour based on the fact that his version sort of fits with the trashy minimalism of the rest of the album.
