joe goddard - Harvest Festival
Outside of his work with Hot Chip, it's hard to know what to expect from a Joe Goddard solo release. Produced for his own Greco Roman imprint, 'Harvest Festival' contains twelve tracks of fruity dancefloor electronics, covering hyper-neon synth melodies mixed with West London club beats and finished with a pop-honed attention to detail. It's a largely instrumental affair, with just one instance of vocals on the wistful 'Lemon & Lime', while the rest of the set really does sound like it could have come from Warp any time over the last 5 years. The church-organ qualities of 'Sour Grapes' strongly reminds of Clark, wheras on 'Strawberry Jam' he works with Switch-alike electrobass, or future-burning synth textures on 'Go Bananas' like Bless Beats meets Harmonic 313 on lime flavoured champagne.
