kath bloom - Finally
Kath Bloom is probably best known for contributing the track 'Come Here' to Richard Linklater's classic love-story 'Before Sunrise' - it was that crucial song that Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy bonded over in a record shop. However, even though Bloom had a rich and diverse musical career before this recording with Loren Mazzacane Connors among other artists, she faded again into relative obscurity after the movie's release. It was only after she discovered that people were talking about her on the internet that she realised there were actually people who gave a damn about her music, so she got a local kid to make her a website and started selling cdrs online to anyone who cared to ask. Of course somewhere down the line she was going to get noticed, and this cd is the result of someone noticing. The album kicks off with the aforementioned 'big track' 'Come Here' and it still sounds as heartbreaking as ever, with Bloom's characteristic melancholy voice oozing like syrup through the homespun acid-folk style production. The rest of the tracks are far more stripped down, but no less affecting - with subtle touches of Americana and Country infusing Bloom's folk with deep Patriotic blues. If you're after some real emotion from one of America's undiscovered greats then look no further.
