jahdan blakkamoore - Buzzrock Warrior
NYC based dancehall outsider Jahdan Blakamoore completes his debut album, released through Gold Dust Recordings. Assuming you've got your parents permission, yo'll be OK listeing to the dirty versions of these tracks, blending his ragga/thug lyrics about weed, women and life with a set of riddims straddling bashment and dubstep modes with a hip-hop swagger. Dutty Artz figures DJ/Rupture and Matt Shadetek are on the buttons for this, providing a set of healthy street riddims made to suit Jahdan's Brooklyn-via-Kingston vocal style with dubstep debted bass on 'What U Know', or sparse but heavy dub on 'The General', and Danny Weed styled grime to back up the collab with Durrty Goodz on 'Mesmerized'. The Funky styled 'Runaround' makes great use of Jahdan's mellifluous capabilities for a surefire dancehall winner, while the quaking subs of 'Earthshaking' are more typical of the ruff riddims you'd expect from Matt Shadetek, and 'Come With Me' touched with the slow Cumbia styes Rupture is infatuated with. It's an excellent contribution from the edges of the dancehall for fans of everyone from Stereotyp to Durrty Goodz.
