point 7 - What?
Few labels are so staunchly a part of IDM's history as Toytronic, and if any label was likely to stick to its guns and keep to its original mission statement, it would surely be this one. Sure enough, Point 7's new album is resolutely and defiantly loyal to the sort of tuneful, sonically inventive beat-driven electronica that virtually no one else seems to be making nowadays. Tracks like 'Bit Loop Eddie' remind you of how magnificently scrunched up these beats can sound, and more IDM joy comes from 'Remember Now' - which oddly, is a tad like a bitcrushed J.S. Bach fugue. There are a couple of entries here that would seem to be competing for the 'most IDM track title ever' award: 'Hacker IP' and the almost preposterously banal 'A Computer' both distinguishing themselves on this front. Exceedingly well-made stuff that's sure to please enduring genre fans.
