remember remember - Remember Remember
Glaswegian combo Remember Remember are another band whose genealogy can be traced back to ephemeral indie combo The Royal We, whose Graeme Ronald is at the core of the action (the Rock Action, if you will) on this album. The music ventures into bold and adventurous territory, managing to spin something genuinely fresh and new sounding from constituent parts that carry the hallmarks of modern classical, post-rock, and the kind of electronic chamber pop currently extolled by Minotaur Shock and Efterklang. Some of the pieces here are reminiscent of the more elaborate sequences you might hear in Sufjan Stevens arrangements, and the perky orchestrations of 'Imagining Things' would certainly compound that - though you could just as easily make links to Philip Glass. Remember Remember aren't afraid of slipping into a groove either though, and 'The Dancing' verges on a kind of math-rock/disco feel, featuring a crisp electronic backbone, propping up tightly wound guitar figures that loop gracefully over one another.
