Tape contained in oversized case with acetate artwork** Mysterious operator N.Racker makes a welcome debut appearance on Pre-Cert Home Entertainment's tape series, sharing a split session with another anonymous character - Tarnation Rooks. We were lucky enough to catch N. Racker's captivating live performance at Manchester's Kraak space in support of Demdike Stare and we can safely say the experience was very similar to the one on this tape. An array of vintage synth, accordion and (possibly) harmonium are struck, squeezed and fed through wheezing tape FX to weave droning atmospheres and scuttling rhythms, all conducted with a wonderfully loose, improvised feel leaving much headroom for unpredictable and unexpected swerves between quiet/loud and smooth/angular segues. Tarnation Rooks on the other hand employs a cornucopia of found sounds - fuzzy drum breaks, acid-fingered guitar licks, radiophonic ephemera, Anatolian vibes - enmeshed in a ferric fog and tumbling headlong through a series of inter-dimensional portals with lysergic logic. You've heard everyone involved in this tape before in one way or another, making this aprecious find for the collectors.
